Taking an assessment
Are there right and wrong answers?
It depends on the type. Aptitude assessments have correct answers; behavioural ones like DISC do not.
It depends on what you have been asked to take.
- Aptitude, knowledge and skills assessments do have correct answers. Work at a steady pace, and do not leave questions blank if you can help it — an unanswered question scores nothing.
- Behavioural and personality assessments — DISC Prism, workstyle and situational-judgement instruments — have no right answers. They map how you work, not how well. Answer as you actually behave rather than how you think you should, and trust your first instinct: it is usually the truest picture.
Either way, answering honestly gives you a report that is genuinely useful. Well-designed assessments include internal consistency checks, so trying to game them tends to produce a less flattering result, not a better one.
